Description

The Viega K5816 Speedpress Elbow 90° is a high-performance press-fit fitting designed for quick, secure connections in potable water and heating systems. Made from durable PPSU, it features Viega’s SC-Contur safety system for reliable leak detection during testing. Ideal for both residential and commercial installations.

Installation Guidelines – Viega K5816 Speedpress 90° Elbow

  1. Cut the pipe squarely using a pipe cutter or fine-tooth saw; avoid angle grinders or flame tools to prevent deformation

  2. Deburr pipe ends thoroughly, inside and outside, to ensure smooth insertion and protect the sealing element.

  3. Mark the correct insertion depth (≈ 51 mm for 2″ pipes); ensure the mark remains visible after assembly.

  4. Inspect fitting components: sealing ring, grip ring, and sleeve must be clean and undamaged—no lubricants or oils allowed.

  5. Insert pipe fully into the elbow until the depth mark touches the stop inside the fitting.

  6. Position the press tool (Viega hand press tool coded for 16/20/25 mm) or appropriate ring actuator for larger sizes, aligned straight on the fitting sleeve.

  7. Perform the press operation: press until the tool automatically completes the cycle and releases; a permanent impression will appear on the sleeve, confirming the press.

  8. Ensure minimum spacing between fittings and surfaces (e.g. 13 mm for 2" fittings) to allow tool access and proper pressing.

  9. Control pipe deflection by alternating press sides or using push–pull methods; employ pipe supports and clamps to maintain alignment.

  10. Conduct pressure testing (water 1–6.5 bar; air 0.3 bar max) using Smart Connect technology to detect any unpressed joints
